Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has taken steps to bolster its department's administration in line with the enforcement of the Key Performance Index (KPI) introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
According to UMS Corporate Relations Chief Jakaria Dasan, some of the steps included a new Deputy Vice-Chancelor (Academic and International) being taken over by Prof Dr Amran Ahmed.
His predecessor, Prof Dr Sanudin Haji Tahir, had chosen to concentrate fully as lecturer in the Science and Technology School.
Prof Dr Amran's former Deputy Vice-Chancelor (Students Affairs and Alumni) post was being taken over by Assoc Prof Dr Shariff Omang who is the Student Development and Alumni Dean.
Vice-Chancelor, Prof Datuk Dr Kamaruzaman Ampon stressed that under the leadership of Najib it was imperative for UMS to strengthen its basic objectives, that is to excel in teaching and learning.
"The UMS administrative team is a tested team and capable to shoulder the responsibility and trust given by the people," he said.
