Managerial Definition of Talented People

The managerial definition of talent is that talent is a person who delivers a superior performance (Robertson & Abbey, 2003). It is defined in terms of outcomes, delivering the goods, getting the job done better than others. Better means doing a work more quickly, more reliably, and more effectively. Once you are labeled talented, managers have put much expectation on you. Thus, talent is also about expectation. To conclude, the definition of talent in managerial perspective is those persons who are expected to deliver a superior performance on time, reliable, and efficient. (Jakaria Dasan, 2010)

Sense of Belonging and Career Success Among HODs in Public Universities

Research on career success is among the popular research in human resource management particularly in organizational behavior. The current research adds to its popularity with significant input. One of its distinctive aspects concerns the role of belonging in explaining some motivation factors that predict managers' career success. The scope of study which focuses on the academic Heads of Department, namely the deans, directors, and chairpersons in faculties, centers, and institutes respectively are what make this study unique. In relation to the second aspect, the uses of social influence theory, social cognitive career theory and work adjustment theory as the common underpinning theories to support the research framework will further highlight the importance of this study. Perhaps, the findings on the performance of the predictors chosen and the preferred outcome, or types of career success are significant.
