Objectives:
Learn how response
functions in the communication process and how the following factors contribute
to effective communication in organization.
a) feedback
b) expectations
c) subjectivity
Contents:
PART I-FEEDBACK
1) Transmission phase involves
sender/encode and receiver/decode.
2) Feedback phase involves
receiver/encode and sender/decode.
3) In both phases, there is a
potential noise.
4) Feedback – verbal &
non-verbal; recipient might interpret message differently and he could agree or
not.
5) Types of feedback;
a) Negative feedback –
deviation-counteracting
b) positive feedback –
deciation-amplifying
6) Communication process ends up with
feedback.
7) Prior to giving feedback,
understand;
i)
meaning attached to certain words (implied meaning)
ii)
try to understand the feedback in the context of sender (feedback phase)

II-EXPECTATION
1) Message must be clearly
communicate to receive clear outcome.
2) Expectation must be reasonable for
i.e. meeting the budget, price etc.
3) Organization must have regular
communication with employees.

III-SUBJECTIVITY
1) The expression of self and the
representation of a speaker’s perspective or point of view in discourse.
(speaker’s perspective in viewing reality).
2) Individuals are driven to make
meaning and take action through the manipulation and negotiation of feeling or
emotion.
