My Words: The Challenges Ahead - Bringing back the collegiality spirit.
Dato Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the Minister of Higher Education, gave his keynote address in the International Forum held in USM, December 2009. His speech got a thunderous respects from the audiences and international participants. One of them was the Vice-Chancellor of USM, Tan Sri Prof. Dato' Dzulkifli Abdul Razak. In his article published in New Sunday Times, Dzul pointed out few issues raised up by the minister with regards to the global challenges surrounding higher education. It is for the scholar community to work collectively in facing the challenges.
MY WORDS: In conjunction with the government effort to transform Malaysian higher education to the next level of hierarchy, academics have to be alert with the decreasing spirit of collegiality either, nationally or internationally. They do not even interested in working together. Everybody is waiting for the offer from nobody. It is time to act as what scholars in developing countries have been doing all this while. They produce article in top journals with scholars across the world. Collaboration should be made popular through high sense of collegiality.
forgive me... this is just my humble thought,
